Letter to John Langdon, 1779 March 29.

Whipple's letter is one of an ongoing correspondence with Langdon, a Continental Naval agent, concerning vessels that had been sought by the Congressional Marine Committee to transport flour and iron from Pennsylvania and Maryland. The lack of supplies is not Whipple's fault and he is sorry that Langdon was unable to comply with the requisition. Whipple continues with a reference to the dangerous depreciation of Continental currency and "the necessity of a remedy for the evil ..." which would happen with "a restoration of public virtue to the state ..." He concludes by congratulating Langdon on the birth of a son and sends good wishes to his wife.
